Do we
want to make our Windows 11 personal and unique? Let's see how to
customize the theme and overall appearance from the settings
Windows 11 looks like a very beautiful operating system, with a
new theme for icons and window decorations. Many users leave everything as
it is but others always prefer to give a personal touch to their computer,
changing the wallpaper or applying a different theme, so as to have new window
borders and new colors for the taskbar.
In the following guide we will show you how to customize
the look and theme of Windows 11 , so how to make it truly one of a
kind. Before proceeding we recommend that you activate Windows : only in this way
will we have access to all the settings relating to the theme and will be able
to personalize Windows 11 to the maximum.
How to change wallpaper
To change the wallpaper on Windows 11 we have two paths that we
can follow: the first, simpler, allows you to change the wallpaper by
right-clicking anywhere on the desktop, clicking on the Personalize item,
opening the Wallpaper menu ,expanding the Personalize item
the background , selecting theImages item next to it and
selecting one of the system's default images. To choose a personal photo
or a background by downloading from the Internet, press the Browse
photos button and go to the folder where we downloaded the photos.
By doing this we will be able to apply HD photos to use as a background and,
to fill the entire screen, press Fill at the bottom in theChoose
an adaptation for the desktop image field .
How to change wallpaper at regular intervals
If we want the Windows 11 wallpaper to change at regular
intervals, open the Start menu, go to Settings , go to
the Personalizations -> Wallpaper menu and select Presentation in
the drop-down menu next to the Customize wallpaper item.
By expanding the menu we will be able to choose the photos to
use for the presentation and the time interval to pass between one photo and
another. Basically, Windows 11 will use the images stored in OneDrive
(perhaps uploaded with synchronization from a phone ), but
we can also set up folders of personal photos or images by pressing the Browse button
and choosing from File Explorer.
Under Change image every we can choose the time
interval to pass between one photo and another, while we can make the slideshow
even more personal by also activating the items Randomly reproduce the
order of the images and Allow the slideshow to run also in
case of battery power supply ; as already seen for single images
we can choose Fill to immediately fit all the photos and images to the screen.
How to change Windows colors
The colors of the bottom bar and the colors of the window borders can
be customized separately, so as to create your favorite color scheme. To
change colors let's go to Settings -> Personalization -> Colors and
start choosing the color to assign to the bottom bar and the window border.
Next to the Choose mode item we select the Custom item
, expand the menu and choose the color mode for Windows and for the app
windows, choosing between Light and Dark . Obviously
we can also find these modes in the drop-down menu next to Choose the
mode , so that we can apply the dark or light theme according to our
needs.
To actually change the colors of Windows we expand the Main
Color menu , select Manual in the drop-down menu next
to it and use the color palette offered by the system to choose the color we
prefer. We can also activate the Automatic mode , which
will change color automatically.
How to change theme on Windows
The most significant graphic changes can be made on Windows 11 by
changing the theme , so as to change the colors of the windows, the
colors of Windows, the wallpaper, the sounds of Windows and the cursor in one
go.
To choose a new theme on Windows 11, go to Settings
-> Personalization , then choose one of the themes in the upper
part of the window. To act more decisively on themes, open the Themes menu
and select the element to customize at the top among Background , Color , Sounds and Mouse
Cursor . After making the changes, press Save to make the changes
effective.
In the same screen seen just now we can also expand the Current
theme menu , so that we can choose other Windows themes
or download new themes from the Microsoft store (by
pressing the Browse themes button ).
How to customize your lock screen
With Windows 11 we can customize the lock screen ,
so as to make it beautiful to look at every time we log in or unlock the screen
after a break. To proceed, let's go to Settings ->
Personalization -> Lock screen and, in the drop-down menu next to the Personalize
lock screen item , choose whether to activate highlighted Windows
content, whether to insert a personalized image or whether to set a
presentation .
In the same window we can choose whether to show the same image
also on the login screen, we can change the screen timeout and customize the screensaver .
How to customize the Start menu and app bar
The last graphic elements that we can customize on Windows 11
are the Start menu and the bottom taskbar. The new Start menu is very
essential compared to the one seen on Windows 10, but we can still add icons or remove suggestions as
seen in our dedicated guide.
The lower taskbar is also very static, offering very few
settings: luckily we can always move the Start button and the list of apps to the left ,
as we were used to on Windows 10. Maybe in the future Microsoft will unlock
other options and customizations for these two elements, but for now there is
not much we can do.
Conclusions
Windows 11 does not seem to want to offer the same graphic customization settings that we were used to until Windows 10. This does not mean that the system does not lend itself to customizations: we still have themes, we can always set a new wallpaper, change the mouse cursors and set a slideshow of the most beautiful photos.
