Do we want to get a notification
reminder with the flash or the screen light? We should perceive how to
initiate these notices on Android
Do we always miss the most important notifications or calls we
were waiting for? Without having to modify the phone too much we can
improve the management of notifications on Android by activating the flash
notification and the notification light on the screen, so that we are always
notified when we receive new notifications simply by looking at the screen or
the back of the phone.
In the following guide we will show you how to flash
notifications and activate the screen light on Android , features
expected on version 14 of Android but which we can easily integrate onto any
phone in circulation.
1) Activate notification on Xiaomi screen
On Xiaomi phones we can activate the
light for notifications without having to install apps.
To activate this innovative function, open the Settings
app, go to theAlways-on display and lock screen menu , select the Notification
Effect menu and choose one of the effects present:
- Light
up the screen:
allows you to light up the screen to read notifications;
- Pulsating
(blue):
Provides a blue pulsating light on the edges of the phone with each new
notification;
- Pulsation
(red) :
same effect as above, but this time the pulsating light will be red;
• Starlight : On the edges of the phone, bright stars will appear with each new notification.
Let's pick the preferred notification light and see how it affects new notifications right away. This function is very nice but increases battery consumption , since the screen is turned on even just to show the light (unless we use a modern AMOLED screen ).
2) Enable on-screen notification for other phones
If we don't have a Xiaomi phone we can easily integrate the
notification light via the screen by downloading the appropriate version of the Notification
light app , optimized for various manufacturers. The application

If we don't have any of these phones we can always download
the generic Notification light app ,
which should work properly on any phone running Android 8 or later.
After downloading the app we can immediately start using it by
configuring the desired notification light type: it is possible to obtain a
circular LED light around the front camera, obtain a notification light on one
of the upper corners of the screen or illuminate the entire edge of the phone
when a new notification arrives.
With the version dedicated to OnePlus and generic Android phones
we can also take advantage of the function to wake up the screen with a double

3) Activate the LED flash as a call reminder.
Another highly anticipated function on Android 14 is the activation
of the flash for each missed call notification : the rear camera flash
will flash differently based on the type of call and the type of person who
tried to contact us.
This function can be immediately integrated into any Android
phone by downloading the Missed Call Reminder app , available
for free download from the Google Play Store .
The app in question allows you to receive a light
notification via camera flash : when the phone has the screen locked
(and in ideal conditions, i.e. set to silent and facing downwards) we can
immediately notice incoming calls and calls to which we did not respond to
simply by looking at the flash light.
The app lets you create different profiles (for night, for
working hours, for an event we set to silent), specify which events the flash
will report (calls, SMS), and set every useful parameter (we can set the flash
to flash, whether it will accompany it with a vibration, or whether it will
make a connected smartwatch vibrate)
Among the most important functions we find the notification
scheduling system : we can in fact completely silence notifications during
working hours and, upon receiving calls or notifications, make the phone flash
flash only after several minutes or hours, so so as to never be disturbed when
we are in meetings or in the classroom.
Conclusions
The Xiaomi phones immediately prove to be very futuristic phones ,
given that they already integrate functions that we will only see on Android
14: from this point of view, there is nothing to complain about foresight on
the part of the Chinese company.
Notification light and Missed Call Reminder, two excellent apps
capable of compensating for the absence of these two new functions (for Missed
Call Reminder, we will need to download the appropriate version according to
our phone), enable us to receive notifications using the screen light and flash
notifications on all other phones).
Flash-related functions can also be configured with an automation app like Automate , but
this way involves many steps and experiments before we can arrive at truly
effective automation (we only proceed if we are experts and know the English
language well).
